Through my work with Norwex, I’ve had the good fortune to meet the most incredible people. (I’m doubly blessed because so many of them collaborate with me on a daily basis as members of my Go Green Team!)

Independent Norwex Consultants come from cities, towns and villages from all corners of the country and all backgrounds. They find their way to Norwex for a variety of reasons. A concern for the environment, an interest in a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, a desire to save time and money on cleaning, or a need to earn income on a flexible schedule, may drive their decision to sign on.

The one thing we all have in common, though, is that we get so much more out of our experience than we ever expected including being part of a great community and having a lot of fun while sharing our passion for Norwex’s products and mission and creating safe havens.

If you are considering a career with Norwex, I encourage you to be inspired by the experiences shared by the consultants and leaders in the Go Green Team. You’ll find that they started out with the same concerns and questions you may have, and overcame them to build thriving businesses and change their lives.

My Journey

“I am a mom.  I’ve been a mom for the past 15 years.  It is the absolute best job I could EVER have and the job I always dreamed of when I was a little girl.  With 5 kids, 2 years apart, I have had 1- 3 little ones at home with me to keep me busy and be my buddies for 14 years.

My baby started kindergarten last year.  I felt lost.  Lost all ambition.  No desire to do anything.  I needed SOMETHING to do.  Something that would help ME GROW, challenge me, give something good to do with my time.  I had thought of getting a part time job, but wasn’t sure what.  I don’t like commitment. I wanted something where I could still be mom when I was needed.  Home the hours and days my kids were home, if someone got sick, I could take off and run to the rescue. I wanted something super flexible. That I didn’t think was out there.

Last April, my friend Cindy invited me to a Norwex party.  I couldn’t go, but bought a couple of things… travel pack and window cloth.  I was intrigued by the products, since every Saturday is cleaning day at the Moon House and my kids do most of it.  I hated giving them chemical cleaners.  I had been looking for things that were safe for them to use for years, but none of them really worked that well.  I got these cloths with the promise that they would never go stinky.  Not knowing better, I used one of my travel cloths to wash my dishes for a good month.  Usually I didn’t use soap, sometimes I did.  I wanted to see how long it would take for this magical cloth to get stinky.  Raw chicken, curry, spaghetti sauce, you name it, I cleaned it that month.  It took well over a month for that cloth to start to smell!  I was amazed and I secretly wanted MORE!

I was hanging out with two of my girl friends.  Girl friend number one had a soccer ball size tumor removed from her ovaries the year before. Girl friend number two was diagnosed with breast cancer about 5 months earlier and in the midst of treatment.  (This isn’t including my sister who has had brain tumors and a grapefruit sized tumor in her ovary)  Talk turned to chemical overload and how it was taxing our bodies and creating these cancers and diseases that weren’t so prevalent years ago.  We talked about eating organic, and how with our large families, that was hard to do all the time because of cost.  I remember my cloths and asked these 2 ladies if I hosted a party, if they would come.  They did.  So did about 10-12 more of my friends and it was a $1000 party!

I did NOT want to be a consultant.  Cindy called me, texted me, and kept persisting.  “Katie, if you take this party as your launch party, it makes NO sense for you NOT to sign up!”  I was super enticed by FREE STUFF!!!!!  After a 2 hour after mid-night texting Q & A session, and the support of my husband, I signed up!

It has been the BEST thing for me.  My ambition is back.  My brain is being used!  I am bettering people’s lives, and bettering my own.  Not to mention I get to associate with some really awesome people!

I’ll have to be honest, once I got past my initial few parties, I was having trouble booking.  Everyone I know knows all the same people.  It kept going in a circle.  I had to break out of it, but how??  I am not extremely social or outgoing.  I am a friendly person, but more prone to be the one sitting quietly in the corner hoping no one comes to talk to me, unless it is a good friend (or I have something specific to talk about!).  How on earth was I going to grow this business that had given me what I had been looking for?

I put out a flier to my kids’ school.  I went to a chamber of commerce meeting. I sent emails to acquaintances to let them know what I was doing and ask for referrals.  I went to speed networking event.  I have been creating my own vendor fairs and finding local events to do.  Slowly, I am growing.  Expanding.  Challenging myself.

This is not a business that comes naturally to me.  Talking to people.  But when you are excited about, and love a product it is EASY to share.  Norwex has been life-changing for me!  I am stretching, growing, challenging myself every day in new ways.  And best part is, I am still Mom.  That is still my #1 job.  My family can still be my number one priority with Norwex, and I get to share that with others, so they can keep their families #1 too!  Best. Job(s). Ever.”
