Through my work with Norwex, I’ve had the good fortune to meet the most incredible people. (I’m doubly blessed because so many of them collaborate with me on a daily basis as members of my Go Green Team!)

Independent Norwex Consultants come from cities, towns and villages from all corners of the country and all backgrounds. They find their way to Norwex for a variety of reasons. A concern for the environment, an interest in a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, a desire to save time and money on cleaning, or a need to earn income on a flexible schedule, may drive their decision to sign on.

The one thing we all have in common, though, is that we get so much more out of our experience than we ever expected including being part of a great community and having a lot of fun while sharing our passion for Norwex’s products and mission and creating safe havens.

If you are considering a career with Norwex, I encourage you to be inspired by the experiences shared by the consultants and leaders in the Go Green Team. You’ll find that they started out with the same concerns and questions you may have, and overcame them to build thriving businesses and change their lives.

My Journey

Name: Melinda Decker

Title within Norwex: Senior Executive Sales Leader

Where to find me online: www.melindadecker.norwex.biz

How long I have been with the company: 2 ½ years

Where I live now, and where I am originally from: Clinton, Illinois

How I started selling Norwex: Like a lot of Norwex fans, I was really just looking for more free products and discounts. When I was offered a “Join for Free” kit, that made the decision to become a consultant even easier. I thought I might have only a couple of Norwex parties — but here I am.

What has surprised you most in your Norwex journey? I remain amazed that I turned my want for free products into a business that is now earning me more than my full-time job.

The most difficult challenge I have faced to get to where I am within Norwex — and how I have overcome it: Rallying for sales promotions and to reach personal and team goals can be super stressful — although the effort is also very rewarding when it happens! I count on team motivation to help keep me and others going. To maintain engagement and momentum, I keep up strong presence on my team’s online discussion forums, and I try to be in contact with my personal team members and sales leaders regularly.

The one piece of advice I have for a beginner consultant that I wish I’d had — or had taken more to heart:  Work for your event bookings at every party — but without being that “pushy person” — because just one party can change your whole calendar! I can trace 87 Norwex events to three of the first parties I booked. It’s amazing.

How I balance selling for Norwex and time for myself, my family and my friends: I mark specific days on my calendar that are for my family only — and no work. I stick to that schedule. I also work a lot on my Norwex business when everyone else goes to bed.

My favorite Norwex product: Body cloths because they’re the Norwex products that are used every day at my house. Even if we don’t clean anything else that day, we are using body cloths.

My favorite themed party to sell at and why:  Any party I can add holiday themes to is fun and allows me to think more creatively. I especially like Halloween (that has always been my favorite holiday), Christmas — and even celebrations of spring cleaning.

How I like to spend my free time: I love visiting flea markets, traveling and listening to audio books on my way to Norwex parties (who has time to actually read books?! The Girl on the Train is a recent favorite, by the way.). I also love traveling, movie nights and swimming with my family.
